Local churches plan Christmas serviecs

Area churches will be celebrating one of the highlights of the spiritual calender with special services this Christmas season.

St. Matthew Lutheran in Pleasant Valley is planning to have a Christmas Eve candlelight service of lessons and carols beginning at 7 p.m. The church, which closed in 2002, is located near the intersection of county roads L and 4, eight miles north and three miles west of North Bend.

St. George Catholic will have visiting priests assisting with confessions on Dec. 18 from 4 p.m. until all confessions are heard. Christmas Eve Mass will be at 6 p.m. and Christmas Day Mass at 9 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic will sing Christmas hymns at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve with Mass at midnight. New Years Day Mass will begin at 9 a.m.

St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran near Scribner will have its Sunday school Christmas program at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 18. On Christmas Eve there will be a service at 6:30 p.m. and on Christmas Day there will be worship at 10:30 a.m. service with holy communion.

The United Presbyterian Church will have its Sunday school Christmas program at 10 a.m. Dec. 18. There will be a Christmas Eve candlelight service with communion at 5 p.m. on the 24th. There will be no Sunday school on Christmas day; worship will be at 10 a.m.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will have the Sunday school children’s worship program Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6:30 p.m. The Little Lamb Preschool program is Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. There will be an Advent service Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve candlelight worship will be at 6:30 p.m. Christmas Day service will be at 9 a.m. New Year’s Eve service with communion will be Saturday, Dec. 31 at 6:30 p.m.

St. Charles Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and midnight. Christmas Day Mass will be at 8:15 a.m.

St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Christmas Eve Mass at 4 p.m. and will hold Christmas Day Mass at 10:15 a.m.
