Get active at Old Settlers

Old Settlers weekend is something many kids look forward to all year long. There are many activities on the schedule that are geared toward the young and young at heart. All require some movement so get ready!

On Saturday, June 24, the Old Settlers 5k run and 1 mile run/walk will start at 8 a.m. at the high school. The alumni golf tournament starts at 9 a.m. at the North Bend Golf Course.

St. Charles Youth Group will once again hold a kickball tournament at the high school ball fields June 24. The last day to enter a team is this Friday, June 16. There are three age divisions: Young Bucks (Jr. High - 24 yrs old); NOT So Young Bucks (25-40) and Seasoned (41-older). There will be no elementary tournament this year.

Each team needs a minimum of 10 players to field a team, five males, five females. Entry fee is $10 per player.

Spectators are welcomed to come watch the games on Groff Field, high school softball field, high school practice field and the lot south of the high school. Bleachers are available at Groff and the high school field. Bring a chair for other fields.

The Last Second Saloon will have its second annual Old Settlers sand volleyball tournament. It is open to six person, co-ed teams and begins Saturday, June 24, at noon. Registration is $30 per team with 100 percent payout to the top two teams. Teams can get registered by calling, messaging, or stopping in the bar by June 20.

For the younger set, ages 2 to 12, there are Children’s games sponsored by the Knights of Columbus in the city park at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 24.

The kiddie tractor pull will be held on Locust Street with registration starting at 3:30 and pulling starting at 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus also sponsor this.

There will not be a Kiddie Parade this year. If enough people miss it, it may be back next year.
