FREMONT – A county-wide housing study with strategies for affordable housing is being conducted by a coalition of local non-profit and government entities. The housing study will be completed with the assistance of Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., a Nebraska-based community planning and research consulting firm.

To help Dodge County assess and meet its housing needs, take the survey here.

This study is funded by a housing grant provided by the Nebraska investment Finance Authority, with matching funds from local public and non-profit entities. The housing study will include important population, income and economic data, a housing stock analysis, strategies for affordable housing development, a flve-year “Housing Action Plan” and funding options for future owner and rental housing development and housing rehabilitation projects.

The housing study process will also include a comprehensive citizen participation program, consisting of citizen housing “listening sessions,” where Dodge County residents will have the opportunity to meet with local elected officials and Hanna:Keelan representatives to discuss area housing opportunities. These listening sessions will be scheduled at a later date.

A “Housing Citizen Survey” is available to residents via the Dodge County Housing Study website. Residents of Dodge County are encouraged to visit the website and complete the citizen survey by Friday, March 31. A “Workforce Housing Needs Survey” will also be distributed to select major employers in Dodge County.

North Bend city clerk Theresa Busse said there will be hard copies of the survey available at City Hall and at the North Bend Library. These also need to be returned by March 31.
