The churches of North Bend will be sponsoring the Christmas Blessings store for the second year. The goal of the event is to encourage the true meaning of Christmas, giving. It will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Bend City Auditorium.

“The churches of North Bend have decided to hold the Christmas blessings event again this year because we feel it is serving a need in our community,” one of the organizers Wendi Emanuel said. “Last year the auditorium was completely full of donated items and probably 90 percent of those items were taken home with the many shoppers we had. We are praying that this year will be an equal success.”

Anyone can donate items. Donations will be received at the auditorium on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help set up the stores. Contact the United Presbyterian Church, St. Charles Catholic Church or St. Peter Lutheran Church to volunteer or work at the store.

Items that can be donated include toys, clothing, kitchen items, jewelry, shoes, coats, winter boots, hats and gloves, holiday decorations, home decorations, Christmas treats or homemade baked goods. Anything that might make someone’s Christmas a little cheerier. All items left over will be donated to a local charity.

And anyone can shop. No money will be exchanged, just take what you can use..
