The North Bend Eagle

Tenth StreetDust fills the air as vehicles drive on the newly paved and opened 10th street in North Bend Monday. Six to eight feet of the ground on either side of the street is dirt and grass seed, some of which spilled onto the street causing the dust.

After 10 weeks of what was to be a five-week project, 10th Street is finally open to traffic in North Bend.

The project began Sept. 11 and was prolonged by weather.

“Nobody can manage that,” 10th Street resident Bev Nissen said. “I talked to the workmen a few times. They did the best they could.”

Nissen’s house is on the corner of Tenth and Maple streets so she parked on Maple and looked forward to pulling into her garage once again.

Cheryl Wietfeld said it was kind of like living on a cul-de-sac while the road was being repaired. They have their garage on Willow Street.

Ralph and Sarah Gutekunst have a house in the middle of the block between Chestnut and Willow streets. Ralph laughed when asked if he was glad to have the street work done. He said that they parked on Chestnut or behind their house during construction. Their driveway has now been repaired and he is back parking in front of his house.
