Area churches planning Christmas services

Christmas time brings many special offerings to our community, many serve as a year end thank you to those who have done something for others. This year the community and area surrounding North Bend has so much to be thankful for following the spring flooding. Local churches offer opportunities to express thanks for the many blessings of the year.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will be having Advent services on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.

The Little Lamb Preschool Christmas Program will be on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

The KFC and Sunday School Children’s Program will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m.

Christmas Eve worship service will be on Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. with a Christmas Day worship service scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 25.

The United Presbyterian Church children’s program will be presented on Sunday, Dec. 15 during worship time.

There are Advent worship services Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. A Christmas Eve candlelight service with communion is planned for Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.

St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church is having a special “Every Member Sunday Advent Afternoon” on Dec. 15. There will be a 10:30 worship service and food, fun, family and fellowship with crafts, lunch and intergenerational activities beginning at 12 noon.

On Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. the children’s Christmas program will be presented at St. John Ridgeley. Christmas Eve services is at 6:30 p.m. with a live nativity. The Dec. 29 service will be a hymn sing.

St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley is planning a Christmas Eve candlelight service of lessons and carols beginning at 7 p.m. The church, which closed in 2002, is located near the intersection of country roads L and 4, eight miles north and three miles west of North Bend.

St. George Catholic Church in Morse Bluff will have Christmas Eve mass at 6 p.m. and Christmas Day mass at 9 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church near Morse Bluff will sing Christmas hymns starting at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve followed by mass at midnight.

St. Charles Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve mass at 4 p.m. and Midnight Mass.

St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Christmas Eve Mass at 4 p.m. and a Christmas day mass at 10 a.m.
