Road closing and contrsution updates

When the Eagle gets updated on road closings and constrution updates on the Highway 30 expressway project, we will post them here as the come from the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

As always, the dates and timetables listed for the work below is weather dependent and start times and durations may need to be adjusted due to weather.

• Road 6, Nov. 26
County Road 6 between County Road R and County Road S will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7 a.m. This closure in necessary to allow for the installation of the new culvert and is planned to last for two days.

• Road 5, Nov. 20
Nebraska Department of Transportation project manager Mick Jacobs reports that County Road 5 between Highway 30 and County Road S was opened to traffic Nov. 20.

• Various, Nov. 20
Nebraska Department of Transportation project manager Mick Jacobs informs Eagle readers that work on the express way from Rogers to North Bend has slowed but not stopped entirely with the change of weather.

The contractor continues to construct the new ditches and roadway roughly from County Road 4 to County Road 7. They are also wrapping up the work on the new bridges just west of County Road 11.

From the Dodge County line to roughly County Road 3.5, the old Highway 30 roadway has been removed and the area graded for work to begin next spring.

The new concrete for the westbound lanes is complete to east of County Road 4, where the contractor plans to continue paving in the spring as well.
Jacobs said that currently, County Road 5 is closed, but this should be re-opened by the end of the month.

“On the whole, the contractor is trying to make the most out of every ‘good’ day he gets,” Jacobs said. “But, unless there is a significant warm spell, I do not see work continuing into December.”

•  County Road 7, Sept. 16
Nebraska Department of Transportation project manager Mick Jacobs says County Road 7 between County Roads R and S, will be closed Monday, Sept. 16, at 7 a.m. to allow for the construction of the new roadway and is planned to last for three weeks, weather permitting.

• County Road 3, 8- Aug. 7
County Road 3 at Highway 30 reference post 406.50 beginning Aug. 7 at 7 a.m. for approximately five days. Once this road is open, County Road 2 at US-30 Reference post 405.50 will closed, also for one week. These temporary closures are necessary for concrete construction.
This work is weather dependent and start times and durations may need to be adjusted due to weather. County Road 8 is closed while the new embankment is being placed.


• County Road 3 - July 15
Construction of the bypass road continues with the closing of County Road 3 at Highway 30 reference post 406.50 began July 15 at 7 a.m. until Friday, July 19, at 6 p.m. This temporary closures are necessary for embankment construction.

• County Road 9 - June 17
County Road 9 between county roads R and S – about a mile and a half northeast of North Bend – will close at 7 a.m. June 17 to allow for the construction of the new re-aligned County Road 9. This work is anticipated to take four weeks to complete and its duration is weather dependent.

• Highway 15 - June 1
Highway 15 south of Schuyler opened to north and south traffic on June 1 according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. The bridge located at Reference Post 105.11 will be open to one-lane traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals.
Work on the highway will continue until all of the flood damage has been repaired within the limits of the right-of-way. Lane closures and flagging operations will be in place as necessary to complete the construction.

In the North Bend area, County Road 6 between County Roads R and S, was opened to thru traffic June 10.

• Highway 30 - May 22
Weather permitting, there will be temporary lane closures on US-30 between Fremont and North Bend beginning Wednesday, May 22 from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each weekday for approximately 2 weeks, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. State maintenance will be sealing pavement joints and cracks.  Lane closures will be maintained withflaggers and a pilot vehicle.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through construction zones, selected alternate routes and to expect delays.

•  County Road 8- April 8
County Road 8 between County Roads R and S will be closed to thru traffic for box culvert work, beginning Monday, April 8 at 7 a.m. until further notice.

County Road S- Jan. 11
County Road S between County Roads 9 and 10 will be closed to thru traffic, beginning Friday, January 11th at 7:00 a.m. until further notice.

County Road 11 - Jan. 9
County Road 11 between county roads R and T will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7 a.m. for one week for bridge work. County Road 11 is three miles east of North Bend.
This work is weather dependent and start times and durations may need to be adjusted due to weather. This closure will be removed as soon as practicable.
