Circus returning to North Bend

Published 7/17/19

C&M CircusNORTH BEND – The North Bend Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus.

The circus last visited North Bend in 2013, performing a pair of shows to a packed house – or a packed tent, rather.

The circus will visit town Tuesday, July 30, with shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It will set up in the same place it did six years ago, in the lot between NBC and Birchwood Manor at 12th and Walnut streets.

The Culpepper & Merriweather is a traditional big-top circus. Shows last about 90 minutes and feature classic and unique acts such as trapeze, unicycles, contortion, sword balancing, clowns, performing animals and more. The show will entertain and drop jaws of all ages.

Discounted advance tickets are currently on sale in North Bend at the following locations: Shawsky’s, Platte Valley Bank, North Bend Mini-Mart, North Bend Eagle, Medicine Man Pharmacy and Casey’s. Advanced tickets cost $7 for youth ages 2-12 and seniors over 65 and $12 for adults.

Tickets will also be available at the circus box office an hour before the show at $15 for adults and $8 for children and seniors. A portion of all ticket sales goes to the North Bend Chamber.

The midway outside the big top tent also opens an hour before the show featuring pony rides, an inflatable slide and bounce house.

Skeeter visiting Thursday

Skeeter the Clown will make a visit to North Bend this Thursday, July 18, helping pave the way for the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus 12 days later.

Skeeter will appear at the North Bend Library at 1 p.m. for a presentation open to the public. She will share stories of circus life and share history and interesting information on the circus in a presentation that will be educational and entertaining.

Skeeter will make an appearance at Romper Room Day Care later in the day.
