The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has started arriving across the state Monday [Dec. 21, 2020], and Three Rivers Public Health Department anticipates receiving some vaccine by the end of the week.

Due to the limited supply of vaccine, public health staff are using a phased approach, with the first phase of vaccinations going to health care personnel providing care and treatment to

COVID-19 patients. Phase 1A also includes emergency medical technicians and staff and residents of long-term care facilities. Three Rivers asks people be patient: the vaccine is on the way.

3RPHD reminds you that even when the vaccine becomes widely available, people will still need to practice excellent hand hygiene, wear masks, and avoid crowds until the transmission rates come down.

In the week ending Monday, 195 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Dodge County. That is down from 245 the previous week and 281 the week prior. However, Dodge County reported six COVID-19 deaths in the last week, while Saunders County saw two.

Statewide hospitalizations are also down for the fourth straight week, sitting at 582 on Monday, down from 693 last week.
