The Grand Passage Sportsmen of North Bend want to share their love of the outdoors with area youth.

AnglerEason's Lake, pictured, will be the site for a fishing experience for area youth.

The club is sponsoring a youth fishing day for 24 area youth May 24. There is no age limit, but the event is intended for younger kids, and a parent is requested to be in attendance.

“Being near water, we want additional supervision,” organizer Alex Legge said. “There will be people there but we will be helping with fishing.”

Every child will have a chance to ride in a boat and will be able to fish off shore when done. Each child will be provided a new fishing reel, rod, tackle box, tackle and bobbers to take home.

The fishing day will be held May 22 from 9 a.m. to noon, with a hot dog roast to follow if weather permits. It will be held at Eason’s Lake, also known as the Sand Ranch Fishing Club.

There will be sportsmen there to help the youth but the goal is not lots of instructions, but a “fun day for a few hours to get kids outside and getting a fishing pole in their hand,” Legge said.

Parents can also fish if they have fishing license.

The mission of the Grand Passage Sportsmen is to develop a culture for the passion of the outdoors to grow within and around the community while building a sustainable legacy that can be passed down for generations to come.
