Morse Bluff looking at grant to help with streets

Published 8/11/21

MORSE BLUFF — The Village of Morse Bluff wrapped up its water project late in 2020, it is now turning its attention to the streets.

Morse Bluff has applied for a Community Development Block Grant from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development to help fund street repairs, according to village clerk Kathy Mensik.

If the grant is secured, Ann Street from First to Second street and the parking areas on Second Street west of Ann will be reconstructed with concrete. Drainage issues will also be addressed along Ann Street with storm sewer and culvert replacement.

The entire length of Kate Street will be milled and get an asphalt overlay. The current asphalt is around 50 years old.

The Village will be notified in late November if they have been selected for the grant. Release of funds would happen in March or April 2022, with construction to begin in the summer of 2022 or spring of 2023. JEO Consulting Group and the Southeast Nebraska Development District are assisting the Village Board with the project.
