Area churches plan upcoming Easter services

Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Area churches have special services at this time and invite area residents and visitors to join them.

St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have services at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday at Ridgeley and Good Friday at United at 7 p.m. Sunrise service on Easter will be at 7 a.m. with communion.

United Presbyterian Church will have Maundy Thursday service with communion served at 7 p.m. Good Friday Vigil will take place from 3-3:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A “Saturday In Silence” will be held April 16 from 1 to 4 p.m.

A “Son’rise Service will be at 6:30 a.m. on Easter morning at the church. Weather permitting, it will be outside on the lawn (bring a lawn chair) with breakfast to follow. There will also be an Easter worship service at 10 a.m.

At St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church there will be Holy Thursday Mass at 8 p.m. and Good Friday service at 8 p.m. and Holy Saturday will be at 8:30 p.m. The Easter Vigil will be Saturday at 8:30 p.m. with the Easter Sunday Service at 8:15 a.m.

St Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Holy Thursday Mass at 6 p.m. Good Friday services will be at 6 p.m. and Easter Sunday mass will be at 10:15 a.m.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will have its Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services at 7 p.m. Easter Sunrise Service will be at 7 a.m. with breakfast sponsored by the youth. The Easter late service will be at 9:30 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill, will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. From 8 p.m. to midnight they will have Adoration with confessions. Stations of the Cross will be on Good Friday at 3 p.m. On Holy Saturday they will have morning prayer at 8 a.m. The Resurrection will be celebrated at 8 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

St. George Catholic Church, Morse Bluff, will have morning service on Good Friday at 8 a.m. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. The resurrection will be celebrated Sunday at 10 a.m.
