Prepare thyself for Old Settlers!

NORTH BEND – Old Settlers is just two-and-a-half weeks away, and this year’s three-day celebration will be the biggest North Bend has seen in at least two years.

The full schedule for the June 25-27 weekend is posted at NorthBendNE.com and will be published in next week’s Eagle.

Below is a summary of some of the events that take some advance preparation or registration for you to consider as Old Setters draws closer.

Old Settlers Road Run: The run, with 5 kilometer and 1 mile run/walk divisions, will begin near the city pool Old Settlers Saturday morning. Registration forms can be found at various North Bend businesses, including sponsor Platte Valley Bank, and online at NorthBendNE.com.

If you’re not going to run, race organizer Matt Musiel is looking for some volunteers to help work at the event. E-mail him at mmusiel@lps.org if you are willing and able.

Pride of the Platte Photo Exhibit: Display prints of your best self-taken photos at the Pride of the Platte exhibit. Ribbons will be awarded to favorite photos based on a public vote. Photos can be any size, but 8x10 or larger are recommended for ease of viewing. Pictures can be dropped off at the Eagle anytime before Old Settlers. Click here for more information.

Kickball tournament: Sign up your kickball team for this tall-ages tournament by contacting Cheryl Wietfeld at Platte Valley Bank or Carol Emanuel at 402-720-4950. The tournament is on Old Settlers Saturday.

Old Settlers Golf Scramble: Register for this four-man scramble by contacting the North Bend Golf Course. The tournament will have tee times from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Cornhole Tournament: The second annual Old Settlers Cornhole Tournament will be Saturday afternoon. The field will be limited to the first 32 two-person teams to register, which can be done by e-mailing NorthBendBags@gmail.com.

Old Settlers Car Show: The car show returns downtown mid-day Saturday. Shine up and show off your car or vehicle. Register the day of the show between 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the North Bend Fire Department.

Kiddie parade: Your kids can dress up and parade themselves in this block-length parade Saturday afternoon. Prizes for everyone, with special prizes to the top three in each category, which include groups, rides and solo. No preregistration required.

Old Settlers Parade: One of the highlights of Old Settlers Sunday runs through town from the high school to the city park starting at 2 p.m. Cash prizes go to the best business and organization floats. No preregistration required. Register during staging in the NBC parking lot from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Old Settlers Craft Fair: The second annual craft fair will be Saturday morning in the park featuring homemade items, gifts, decor and more. If you have a crafting side gig and would like to reserve a vendor table, contact Sherry Raymond at 402-657-7995.
