Superintendent off to a good startby Mary Le Arneal Patrick Ningen is making himself at home at his new position as superintendent of North Bend Central schools. His first task is to teach people how to say his name. Ningen, pronounced “Ning-in.” Rhymes with “singin’.” A good Austrian/German name. But he will also answer to Patrick.
His first task that he is working on is the revision of school policies that the board has to pass. They have recently been reviewed by the school’s lawyers and now Ningen is reviewing them before presenting them to the board. “It’s a big task to update, review and revise the policy as needed,” he said. “I want to utilize surveys of staff and community to look at things going well and things we need to improve,” he said. “These surveys will be a baseline data for future surveys so we can continue to evaluate and improve ourselves as a school district.” Ningen comes from a long line of educators. His father and grandfather were both teachers and administrators. Both sides of his family have many teachers. This is all Ningen ever wanted to be. “I would go to school with my dad, even on days no one else was there,” Ningen said. “I never thought of being anything else.” Ningen has his bachelors degree from Wayne State, masters from Chadron State and Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State.
