Memorial Day services plannedby Mary Le Arneal Local veterans have Memorial Day services planned at several area cemeteries for Monday, May 29. Services are being conducted by the American Legion Post 340 of Morse Bluff, North Bend’s VFW Post 8223 and the Jeffrey K. Mines AmVets Post 20. All veterans are invited to meet at 7 a.m. for coffee and rolls at the Legion Hall in Morse Bluff. Those participating in the cemetery salutes will divide with one group going to Fleming Cemetery at 8 a.m. and at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 9 a.m. The other group will take part in services at National and Catholic cemeteries near Linwood at 8 a.m. and at Dawson Cemetery at 9 a.m. The two groups will reassemble at Killian Cemetery at 10 a.m. and Woodland Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. with a flyover set for 11. North Bend Central junior Paxton Mitties will be the featured speaker at Fleming, Cedar Hill and Killian cemeteries. Wendi Emanuel, Ethan Emanuel, Brady Jedlicka and Alex Otte will serve as buglers at all the services. There will be a Mass at 8 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill, and a 10 a.m. Mass at Woodland Cemetery led by St. Charles Catholic Church. After all the ceremonies, there will be a pot luck at the VFW Hall in North Bend for veterans, their families and other participants in the ceremonies. <<Back to the front page |
