Churches plan special Easter services

• No Easter egg hunt this year.

Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Area churches have services at this time and invite area residents and visitors to join them.

St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have services at 7 p.m. Good Friday at Ridgeley and Maundy Thursday service at United in Scribner, both at 7 p.m.

St. John Ridgeley will have a sunrise service on Easter at 7 a.m. with communion and breakfast to follow.

United Presbyterian Church will have Maundy Thursday service with a Seder Meal at 7 p.m. Reservations are needed for the meal, call the church at 402-652-8361

A Sonrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. on the south lawn by the church, weather permitting. Otherwise it will be held in the sanctuary with breakfast by the youth will follow.

At St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church there will be Good Friday service at 6 p.m. with Easter Sunday service at 8:30 a.m.
Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. and Holy Saturday will be at 8:45 p.m. both at St. Patrick in Fremont.

St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Good Friday services at 3 p.m. Easter Sunday Mass will be at 8 a.m.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will have its Maudy Thursday and Good Friday services at 7 p.m. Easter sunrise service will be at 7 a.m. with breakfast served by the youth.

The late Easter service will be at 9:30 a.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill, will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at 7 p.m. From 8 p.m. to midnight they will have Adoration with confessions. Divine Mercy Chaple Stations of the Cross will be at 3 p.m. on Good Friday. On Holy Saturday there will be morning prayer at 8 a.m. The resurrection will be celebrated at 8 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

St. George Catholic Church, Morse Bluff, will have morning prayer on Good Friday at 8 a.m. and at 7 p.m. Liturgy of the Passion will begin. Holy Saturday Easter Vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. The resurrection will be celebrated Sunday at 10 a.m.

The doors are open to all to attend these special services.

Easter egg hunt: The community Easter egg hunt, formerly hosted by the North Bend Fire Department and before that Birchwood Manor, will not be held this year. As far as the Eagle is aware, there will be no public Easter egg hunt in North Bend or Morse Bluff this year.
