Local churches schedule Easter servicesby Mary Le Arneal Easter is the most important Christian festival of the year as Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Area churches have special services at this time and invite area residents and visitors to join them. This year Easter falls early, on April 5. St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have services at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday at Ridgeley and Good Friday at St. Paul’s at 7 p.m. At St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church there will be Good Friday services at 5 p.m. with Easter Sunday service at 8:30 a.m. St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have Good Friday services at 12 noon. Easter Sunday Mass will be at 9 a.m. United Presbyterian Church will have Palm Sunday services March 29 at 10 a.m. Maundy Thursday Services will be at 7 p.m. April 2 and will include the sacrament of Holy Communion. Easter Sunday there will be a sunrise service at 7 a.m., outside weather permitting, with breakfast following. There will also be a 10 a.m. service on Easter. St Peter Lutheran Church will start Easter services with 9 a.m. service on Palm Sunday. Maundy Thursday service will be at 7 p.m. and Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Easter sunrise service is at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast hosted by high school youth. Easter Day service is at 9:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cedar Hill, will have Holy Thursday service at 6 p.m. and adoration with confessions from 7 to 11 p.m. Good Friday service is at 3 p.m. with Divine Mercy Chaplet Stations of the Cross. Holy Saturday 8 a.m. Morning Prayer St. George Catholic Church, Morse Bluff, on Good Friday will have 8 a.m. morning prayer. At 6 p.m. there will be Liturgy of the Passion.
