Late game rally propels Arlington past Tigers, 24-21 By Terry Mylander Arlington rallied from a 21-10 deficit with just over a quarter and half remaining to defeat North Bend Central 24-21 in high school football action Friday night in Arlington. The Tigers took a 21-10 lead with 7:38
remaining in third quarter on a 42-yard pass
play from Jake Wesch to Miles Hunke. The Eagles then went to work. Starting on their own 38, the Eagles began
to methodically move the ball down the
field. Arlington gained five yards on their first play from scrimmage, but the Tigers were tacked on another 15-yards for a face mask penalty. Adam Monke carried the ball five consecutive
times and capped the drive with a It looked as if the Tigers would respond
on their next possession as Wesch hit Josh
Tuschen for a 37-yard gain and put the Tigers
back in scoring position. A penalty by the Eagles gave NBC a first
down on the 18-yard line with just over two
minutes left in the third quarter. As in previous games this season, the Tigers were forced with a fourth and short situation. This time, fourth and less than two yards. Deciding to go for it, Wesch handed off to Zach Loberg, who was stuffed at the line of scrimmage and the Eagles took over on downs. The Tiger defense came up strong and

to set up first down inside the Tiger 25. Three plays later, Monke scored from 12 yards out to give the Eagles a 24-21 advantage with 6:41 remaining in the contest. But Arlington intercepted late in the contest
to preserve the win. Arlington jumped on the scoreboard in the
first quarter on a 33-yard field goal by Tyler
Nath. The Tigers responded in the same quarter
when Wesch broke free for a 64-yard touchdown
run. North Bend increased their lead in the second quarter when Loberg scampered in from 11-yards out. Arlington cut the Tiger advantage just
before the half when Bruce Mastin caught a
16-yard pas from Loftis as the Tigers took a
14-10 lead into the lockerroom. North Bend scored made it 21-10 midway through the third quarter on the pass from Wesch to Hunke. Wesch finished with 131 yards on the
ground on seven carries while Loberg had Wesch completed nine of 10 passes for
156 yards and one interception. Jason Saalfeld had three receptions for 39
yards and Josh Tuschen had two receptions
for 27. Defensively, Todd Aspy and Austin Treat each had 11 tackles and Hunke added 10. Aaron Nelson had four unassisted tackles for the Tigers. The loss drops NBC to 0-5 on the season with West Point coming to town for the Tigers final home game of the year on Friday night. It is also Parent's Night at North Bend.
