Record defensive performance smothers Scoutsby Nathan Arneal The Tigers gave up just nine points to David City in a 55-9 win, the fewest points ever scored against a North Bend defense. The old record was the 11 points scored by Pender against the 2004-2005 Tiger girls. The Scouts turned the ball over on their first 11 possessions and trailed 22-0 before hitting a free throw with 5:54 left in the second quarter. That one point was nearly it for David City in first half, but they got a basket on their final possession of the half to trail 32-3 at the break. In all, the NBC defense forced the Scouts into 36 turnovers and a 23.5 percent shooting. North Bend did not press beyond the opening minutes of the game. The Tigers also didn’t allow David City a single offensive rebound. Mallory Hull led NBC in scoring with 13 points while Kelsey Jensen added 10 points from inside. Amy Baumert led the rebounding effort with seven boards. <<Back to the girls basketball records |
