City drops annexation plansby Nathan Arneal As quickly as the North Bend City Council picked up the idea of annexation, it appears to have dropped the idea just as quickly. In front of a large audience, most of them residents of the Pioneer Lake housing development, Councilman Al Wochnick said that they don’t feel that the timing is right for annexation. Wochnick and councilman Kevin Ferguson attended a meeting of the Pioneer Lake home owners association the previous Saturday. Shortly thereafter, most of the audience left. Mayor Karan Legler read Resolution 388 endorsing the “S Road Alternative” for the Highway 30 expressway from Schuyler to Fremont. The resolution was passed and will be forwarded to the Dodge County Board of Supervisors, the Fremont City Council and the Nebraska Department of Roads for their consideration. The resolutions includes a request for an overpass at the intersection of highways 30 and 79. The Dodge County board will discuss North Bend’s resolution at its July 2 meeting.
