The new year brings with it some new goals for the completion of the new library. Currently the librarians, along with a committee of Dan Watts, Mary Buller and Dr. Mark Johnson, have been working with the architects from Carlson West Povondra to help finalize the plans for the new library.

The firm was hired by the Library Foundation for the purpose of presenting a more concrete plan to the community as well as for grant application purposes. It is necessary to have a more definite total estimate for the project for grant applications.

A larger picture of the proposed plans is available at the North Bend Library. The community is welcome to put in writing any comments about the proposed plan and leave them at the library or contact the committee with written suggestions.

Once the plans are finished the Friends of the Library will begin a Capital Campaign for pledges from the community. The Capital Campaign will need a lot of help from the community. Anyone wishing to chair this committee or serve on it please contact the library. According to the Library Grant Committee the Capital Campaign will be extremely important when applying for grants in order to prove that the community supports the project.

The group has also working on fund raisers. The next one will be Cosmic Bowling on March 14 with two shifts of bowling at 7 and 9. The golf tournament is scheduled for May 2. The next meeting for the Friends of the Library will be February 16 at 7:00 at the library.
