
Memorial Day services plannedPublished 5/25/11 Memorial Day services have been planned at several cemeteries for Monday, May 30, according to representatives of the Morse Bluff American Legion Post 340. The services are being sponsored by the Legion as well as VFW Post 8223 and the Jeffrey K. Mines AmVets Post 20, both of North Bend. Participants will meet for a 6:30 a.m. breakfast at the Legion Hall in Morse Bluff, then divide into two groups. One group will lead services at Fleming Cemetery at 8 a.m. and at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 9 a.m. The other group will take part in services at National and Catholic cemeteries on Linwood Hill at 8:15 a.m. and at Dawson Cemetery, west of Linwood at 9 a.m. Paul Shavlik will be the featured speaker. Both groups will unite for a program at Killian Cemetery, southwest of Morse Bluff at 10 a.m., at Woodland Cemetery, northeast of North Bend at 11 a.m. and Veterans’ Memorial Park in North Bend at 11:45 a.m. There will be a veteran presenting a reading at Woodland Cemetery. Speaker at Veteran’s park is pending. The Rev. Neal Allen will be the featured speaker at Fleming, Cear Hill and Kilian cemeteries. Buglers who will take part at the numerous services include Kyle Krula, Seth Feala, Luke Dolezal, Desirae Sindelar and Jesse Sindelar. St. Charles Catholic Church will hold a 10 a.m. Mass at Woodland Cemetery. There will be no Air National Guard fly over this year due to their commitments overseas. <<Back to the front page |
