Make it back-to-back East Husker-Platte titles for director Katie Mann and the North Bend Central Drama Department.

NBC took first place at Monday’s EHC-Platte Division play production contest with its rendition of “The Infamous Soothing System of Professor Maillard,” based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe.

NBC was the only team to be rated in the top three by all three judges.

“I am just so happy for these kids,” Mann said. “They really worked hard for it.”
Mann also credited her assistant director Dan Wright, whom she called more of a co-diretor.

Earning outstanding acting honors were Zane Gibney, Harley Cave, Bethany Wiebold, Abby Post, Josie Spiker, Drew Hall, Shaundra Dauel, Rachel Adams and Sami McDonald.

Next up is the district contest Nov. 29 in Columbus, where the winner will qualify for state. EHC-Platte runner-up West Point-Beemer will be in the same district. The Cadets also performed a Poe story, “The Tell-Tale Heart.”
