Ryan Stieren has resigned his position as head football coach and business teacher at North Bend Central to move his family closer to his wife’s job in Omaha. He has accepted a job as a business teacher at LaVista Middle School and assistant varsity football coach at Papillion-LaVista South. His new job starts in January.

The move is pending official approval by the NBC school board at its Dec. 14 meeting.

Stieren said his wife Nan, who recently took a new position at LinkedIn in Omaha, is seeing her career take off and he wants to support that. The family lives in Fremont but plans on moving to Omaha or Papillion.

“There’s never a good time to walk away, but it’s part of life,” Stieren said. “For me, it was a career goal to be a head coach and lead a successful program. I think we did that. Now I think it’s time to take a step back and let my wife go after what she wants to do. I get to watch my kids grow up and still have a chance to coach at a high level.”
