Area churches plan Christmas services

Area churches are lighting the way in celebration of the birth of Christ. Many will have special services this season, and all are invited to participate and celebrate.

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley will open for a Christmas Eve service Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. The church, which closed in 2002, is located near the intersection of county roads L and 4, eight miles north and three miles west of North Bend.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will have its children’s Christmas program on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m. There will be two Christmas Eve services: an early service at 3:30 p.m. and an evening service at 5:30 p.m. The Christmas Day service will be at 9 a.m.

United Presbyterian Church will have a candlelight service on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. with communion served.

St. John Ridgeley Lutheran Church will have the youth Christmas program Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. There will be coffee and treats at 10 a.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 24, there will be a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6:30 p.m. All children are welcome to participate in a live nativity. There will be a hymn sing on Dec. 29 at 10:30

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve Mass Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Christmas morning. Midnight Mass will be at St. Patrick in Fremont.

St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder will have a Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m.

In Morse Bluff, St. George Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve Mass at 6 p.m. and Christmas Day Mass at 9 a.m.

Cedar Hill Sacred Heart Catholic Church will sing Christmas hymns starting at 11:30 p.m. with Mass following at midnight.
