NBC ends 7-2 in conference

North Bend went 2-1 against East Husker Conference in the last week of the regular season to end with a 7-2 conference record, which places the Tigers third in the EHC. The Tigers fell to conference champion West Point-Beemer 25-22, 25-21, 25-19 on October 21. A week later, NBC swept a triangular against Stanton and Logan View on Oct. 28 to close out its regular season with a 17-10 record. North Bend beat both the Fillies and Raiders in straight sets.

NBC reels off three conf. wins

Chesea GoingDefensive specialist Chelsea Going bumps the ball in a recent match.

North Bend strung together three straight East Husker Conference wins in the span of a week to move them into a three-way tie for second place in the conference. Sandwiched between straight-set sweeps of Scribner-Snyder and Lyons-Decatur was a five-set nail biter with Tekamah-Herman that saw NBC battle back from a 2-sets-to-1 deficit. The largest victory margin for either team in the match was four points, as the black and orange took a hotly contested 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-11 win.

During the three-game stretch, coach Amy Sterup saw a very balanced attack sparked by her middle hitters elevating their play. Middle hitter Sam Kreikemeier led NBC with 33 kills during the three-game streak, and has had two games of hitting better than .500 in the past four games.

Twin River tops NBC

North Bend dropped a hard-fought match to Twin River, Tuesday, Sept. 30. Two of the three sets went down to the wire and the other was competitive as well, but the visiting Titans earned a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 win. Samantha Renter and Kelly Baumert led NBC with nine kills each.

Tigers serve well in O-C win

Sept. 22- North Bend upped its conference record to 2-1 with a 3-0 sweep over Oakland-Craig on the home court Tuesday. The Tigers rang up an amazing 19 ace served during the 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 victory, led by Kelly Baumert's five aces. Baumert and Renter had seven kills each to lead Tiger hitters.

Gators deal NBC ECH loss

West-Point Beemer alone in frist place
Sept. 16- For the second time this season, Wisner-Pilger got the best of North Bend. The Gators' 25-12, 20-25, 25-16, 25-9 victory gives NBC its firs conference loss in the season. Kelly Baumert had 14 kills to lead North Bend, while Sam Renter returned to action after missing two matches with eight kills and two blocks. In other East Husker Conference games Tuesday: Logan View def. Pender 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 15-8; Lyons-Decatur def. Oakland-Craig 26-24, 25-15, 17-25, 16-25, 15-11; and West Point-Beemer def. Tekamah-Herman 25-15, 25-12, 25-19. Those results mean that with most teams just two games into their conference schedules, West Point-Beemer has already taken the drivers' seat as the only team undefeated in EHC play. The Cadets are 3-0 now, with wins over Lyons-Decatur, Wisner-Pilger and West Point.

NBC second at home invite

North Bend claimed the second-place trophy at the North Bend Invite Saturday morning (Sept. 13). The Tigers got things started with a 25-23, 25-11 win over Logan View. Second-ranked Scotus awaited in the finals, where the Shamrocks defeated the home team 25-12, 25-14. Raymond Central defeated Logan View in straight sets in the consolation to take third place. North Bend's Kelly Baumert, Mallory Hull and Samantha Kreikemeier were named to the all tournament team.

Tigers pick up first EHC win

You can't win them all unless you win the first one. The NBC volleyball team did just that Tuesday with its first conference win, a 2-0 sweep of Pender. The Tigers also beat Emerson-Hubbard at Tuesday's triangular in Pender. The wins put the Tigers' record at 6-1 heading into Saturday's North Bend Invite.
